Postpartum recovery

Your body did something enormous. It was just never explained.

The exhaustion, the mood swings, the skin, the cycle that hasn't found itself again. None of it means you're failing at recovery. It means recovery was never explained to you. It wasn't explained to our founder either. That's why Samāh exists.

Samāh started in a postpartum kitchen.

Keerthi, founder — her own postpartum year, 2019

Fatigue that sleep didn't fix. Acne that got worse after delivery, not better. A cycle that came back as a stranger. Every doctor visit ended with "this is normal."

She started grinding seeds in a mixie and portioning them into zip-lock bags. By week three her energy shifted. By month two, her cycle was steadier and her skin was calming. What's in the pack today is that kitchen ritual, ground fresh in small batches.

Our Founder’s Postpartum Journey

The steepest hormonal drop a body ever makes, in about three days. PREGNANCY THE MONTHS AFTER

The why

What's actually happening in your body

The cliff

Within days of birth, oestrogen and progesterone fall from the highest levels of your life to among the lowest. Mood, sleep, skin and energy all feel that drop. It is chemistry, not character.

The slow climb back

Cycles return on their own timeline, months for some, longer if you're breastfeeding, and often irregular at first. Meanwhile your body is rebuilding mineral and nutrient stores that pregnancy and feeding draw down heavily.

Why "eat well" is incomplete

Recovery runs on nutrition, sleep and support. The problem is nobody tells you what "eat well" means for a postpartum body specifically. That specificity is the whole reason this page exists.

What genuinely helps

Four things that help. We only sell one of them.

Sleep in borrowed pieces

Sleep in borrowed pieces

Whole nights aren't coming yet, so take fragments without guilt. Accept every offer of help that buys you forty minutes. Recovery is built in those pieces.

Warm, real meals

Warm, real meals

Your grandmother's postpartum food logic was right: warm, cooked, mineral-rich, regular. Protein and good fats at every meal, and let someone else cook when possible.

Track the return, gently

Track the return, gently

When your cycle starts coming back, log it. Irregular is expected at first; a record helps you and your doctor see the pattern forming.

A ritual that survives a newborn

Anything that takes more than a minute won't happen right now, and shouldn't have to. One spoon into curd or a smoothie is the whole ask.

What happens when

What to expect

Seed cycling works gradually. It is not a quick fix. Here is a realistic, honest timeline of what most women experience.

  1. WEEK 1–2

    Your body adjusts

You're introducing new nutrient inputs. Don't expect dramatic changes. Some women notice improved digestion from the fibre content. You may notice nothing at all. That's normal.

  2. MONTH 1

    Subtle shifts begin

Many women report more stable energy and slightly reduced bloating. Your body is beginning to build up the zinc, selenium, and essential fatty acids from consistent intake. Keep going.

  3. MONTH 2

    Changes become noticeable

This is where most women start to see results: lighter PMS, fewer cramps, better skin clarity, more predictable mood patterns. If you're tracking with the Sync app, you may notice your logged symptoms improving.

  4. CYCLE 3+

    The compounding effect

Seed cycling works through consistent, cumulative nutrition. By month 3, the nutrients have had time to support multiple hormonal cycles. Many women describe this as 'my cycle just feels smoother.' Some notice reduced hormonal acne, more regular periods, and better sleep in the luteal phase.

  5. Long term

    A daily practice

Seed cycling is not a 30-day fix. It's a food-based daily practice. The benefits compound over months and years. Many women continue seed cycling indefinitely because the seeds are genuinely nutritious foods, not a temporary intervention.

Individual results vary. Seed cycling is nutritional support, not medicine. We do not guarantee specific outcomes.

When this needs a doctor, not a blend

  • Thoughts of harming yourself or your baby. Call your doctor today, not tomorrow
  • Sadness or numbness that lasts beyond two weeks and doesn't lift. Postpartum depression is common, treatable and not your fault
  • Heavy bleeding that soaks a pad an hour, fever, or severe pain
  • Exhaustion that sleep never touches. Worth iron and thyroid tests
  • No period twelve months after stopping breastfeeding

Postpartum care in India often ends at the six-week check. It shouldn't. Ask for more, and keep asking. Food supports recovery. It does not replace medical care.

You don't have to figure this out alone.
