THE SCIENCE

How seed cycling works

Your menstrual cycle has two main halves. Each half has different hormonal needs. Seed cycling provides the specific nutrients each half requires.

DAY 1 TO 14 · FOLLICULAR PHASE

Phase 1: Flax + Pumpkin

🌱

Supports estrogen production during the first half of your cycle when your body is building up to ovulation. Estrogen is responsible for energy, mood elevation, and skin clarity.

What each seed does:

  • Flax seeds: Rich in lignans that help modulate estrogen levels. High in omega-3 (ALA) for anti-inflammatory support.
  • Pumpkin seeds: High in zinc which supports hormone production, immune function, and reproductive health.

When to take: From the first day of your period until mid-cycle (around Day 14). If your cycle is longer or irregular, take until you notice ovulation signs or until mid-point of your cycle.

DAY 15 TO 28 · LUTEAL PHASE

Phase 2: Sunflower + Sesame

🌻

Supports progesterone during the second half of your cycle when your body is preparing for either pregnancy or menstruation. Progesterone is your calming hormone.

What each seed does:

  • Sunflower seeds: Rich in selenium and vitamin E. Selenium supports progesterone production. Vitamin E protects cell membranes
  • Sesame seeds: Contains lignans that support progesterone production and help clear excess estrogen through the gut.

When to take: From mid-cycle until your next period starts. If your cycle is irregular, switch when you feel the energy shift from outward (ovulatory) to inward (pre-menstrual).

Depending on your chosen blend, you also get:

Original: + Hemp Seeds + Moringa + Shatavari

Source of GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) from hemp for anti-inflammatory support. Moringa adds iron and antioxidants. Shatavari supports reproductive health and hormonal balance.

Chamomile: + Hemp Seeds + Chamomile

Hemp provides GLA for skin and hormonal communication. Chamomile contains apigenin which binds to GABA receptors, reducing luteal phase anxiety and improving sleep quality.

Hemp Free: + Amla + Nettle

Amla is one of the richest natural sources of Vitamin C, supporting iron absorption and immunity. Nettle provides minerals and supports healthy inflammation response. No hemp, same seed cycling foundation.

How To Use

Take 1 Scoop or 2 Tablespoons (approximately 30g) of the current phase blend every day. You can mix it into yoghurt, smoothies, oatmeal, dal, rotis, or sprinkle on salads and meals.

Start Phase 1 blend on the first day of your period. Continue until ovulation (approximately day 14). If you are unsure when you ovulate, use Phase 1 for the first 14 days.

Switch to Phase 2 blend after ovulation. Continue until your next period starts. Then switch back to Phase 1.

If you do not have a regular cycle, start Phase 1 on any day and follow a 14-day pattern: 14 days Phase 1, then 14 days Phase 2, then repeat.

For Everyone

Who can seed cycle?

Seed cycling is food. It is not a supplement and not a medicine. Almost anyone can benefit from adding these nutrient-dense seeds to their diet.

Women with regular cycles

Support your natural estrogen and progesterone rhythm. Many women notice reduced PMS, better skin, and more stable energy within 2–3 cycles.

Women with PCOS or irregular cycles

Seed cycling is often the first recommendation for PCOS. The Sync app's PCOS mode helps you know when to switch phases even with unpredictable cycles.

Men

Seeds provide zinc, selenium, magnesium, and essential fatty acids that support testosterone production, sperm health, and daily energy. The same seeds, different purpose.

Women trying to conceive

The nutrients in these seeds (zinc, selenium, omega-3, folate-supporting compounds) are foundational for egg health and hormonal readiness.

Women coming off hormonal birth control

Seed cycling provides gentle nutritional support as your body re-establishes its natural hormonal rhythm after stopping the pill, IUD, or other hormonal methods.

Anyone interested in food-first wellness

Even without a specific hormonal concern, these seeds are some of the most nutrient-dense foods available. A simple daily ritual with compounding benefits.

A note on safety

These are whole food seeds, not supplements. They are generally safe for most people. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, on blood thinners, or have a nut/seed allergy, please consult your healthcare provider before starting. Samāh products are positioned as nutritional support. We do not claim to cure, treat, or diagnose any condition.

What happens when

What to expect

Seed cycling works gradually. It is not a quick fix. Here is a realistic, honest timeline of what most women experience.

  1. WEEK 1–2

    Your body adjusts

You're introducing new nutrient inputs. Don't expect dramatic changes. Some women notice improved digestion from the fibre content. You may notice nothing at all. That's normal.

  2. MONTH 1

    Subtle shifts begin

Many women report more stable energy and slightly reduced bloating. Your body is beginning to build up the zinc, selenium, and essential fatty acids from consistent intake. Keep going.

  3. MONTH 2

    Changes become noticeable

This is where most women start to see results: lighter PMS, fewer cramps, better skin clarity, more predictable mood patterns. If you're tracking with the Sync app, you may notice your logged symptoms improving.

  4. CYCLE 3+

    The compounding effect

Seed cycling works through consistent, cumulative nutrition. By month 3, the nutrients have had time to support multiple hormonal cycles. Many women describe this as 'my cycle just feels smoother.' Some notice reduced hormonal acne, more regular periods, and better sleep in the luteal phase.

  5. Long term

    A daily practice

Seed cycling is not a 30-day fix. It's a food-based daily practice. The benefits compound over months and years. Many women continue seed cycling indefinitely because the seeds are genuinely nutritious foods, not a temporary intervention.

Individual results vary. Seed cycling is nutritional support, not medicine. We do not guarantee specific outcomes.
